Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) at Cassilis Public School

Positive Behaviour for Learning

Welcome to our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) page! At Cassilis Public School, we believe that building a safe, positive, and inclusive environment is essential for effective learning and personal development. Our PBL framework is a whole-school approach designed to foster and support positive behaviours, creating a nurturing and motivating space for all our students.

What is Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)?

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is an evidence-based framework that promotes proactive strategies for teaching and reinforcing positive behaviours. At Cassilis, our staff work together to implement consistent expectations and use positive reinforcement to help students understand and uphold these standards. The aim of PBL is to create a positive school climate that encourages academic, social, and emotional growth.

PBL

How PBL Works at Cassilis Public School

Our PBL framework includes the following key elements:

  • Clear Expectations
Our PBL team has set clear expectations that align with our values of being safe, respectful, and a learner. These expectations are communicated to students, teachers, and families to ensure a shared understanding of what positive behaviour looks like.

  • Explicit Teaching
Positive behaviours are taught directly and modelled throughout the school. By explicitly teaching these behaviours, we give students the tools they need to make good choices and develop positive habits.

  • Positive Reinforcement
At Cassilis, we celebrate positive behaviours! Our staff use rewards, praise, and recognition to encourage students who demonstrate safe, respectful, and learner-focused behaviour. This approach reinforces our school values and motivates students to do their best.

  • Continuous Support and Development
PBL is a flexible framework that allows us to adapt to our students' needs. Regular assessment and reflection enable us to refine our approach and ensure we continue to support students effectively.

Benefits of PBL at Cassilis

Through Positive Behaviour for Learning, our school community gains:

  • A safe and supportive environment where students feel valued and ready to learn.
  • A common language and understanding of positive behaviours across all settings.
  • Stronger relationships between students, teachers, and families.
  • Greater focus on academic and personal growth, empowering students to reach their full potential.

At Cassilis Public School, we are committed to helping every student thrive academically and socially. With PBL, we ensure that every child is equipped with the skills, confidence, and support they need to succeed.

Let’s work together to make Cassilis a safe, respectful, and dynamic place to learn!

Our behaviour expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be a Learner

At Cassilis Public School, we are guided by three core values that steer us to success:

Be Safe

Be Safe

We prioritise a safe environment where every student can learn and grow confidently. Safety is central to both our physical environment and the way we interact with one another. Students are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings, follow school guidelines, and act in ways that promote everyone’s safety.

  • We keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
  • We ask an educator for help when we need it.

Be Respectful

Be Respectful

Respect is the foundation of a supportive and collaborative school community. Our students learn to value one another, show empathy, and appreciate diversity. Respectful behaviour is expected in classrooms, on the playground, and throughout the school, helping to build a positive and inclusive culture.

  • We respect ourselves and each other.
  • We wear our school uniform with pride

Be a learner

Be a learner

Learning is at the heart of everything we do at Cassilis Public School. Our students are encouraged to be curious, responsible, and engaged in their learning journey. Being a learner means setting goals, showing resilience, and actively participating in all school activities

  • We always try our best.
